What do I need to use it?
An iPhone or iPad running iOS 17 or later. The viewfinder reads through the back camera, so it needs a real scene in front of it. The gear database is bundled in the app and the sun is computed on the device, so neither needs a signal.
How do I unlock the app?
Two ways in, either is enough. Buy it once from the first screen (UNLOCK FOREVER, $19.99), or tap Sign in with Cutvey if you are a Cutvey member. The purchase belongs to your Apple Account and restores on any of your devices with RESTORE PURCHASE.
I bought it but it shows the paywall again.
Tap RESTORE PURCHASE on that screen. Make sure the device is signed into the same Apple Account the purchase was made with. If it still will not restore, send us the date of purchase and we will sort it out.
I am a Cutvey member and the sign-in says my plan does not include it.
Cutvey Viewfinder is included for members on the Solo, Team, Studio and Enterprise plans, one activation per person and up to three devices each. Ask your workspace owner to check the plan at app.cutvey.com, or write to us with the workspace name and we will look.
My camera or lens is not in the list.
Two answers. Add it yourself under Setup, Custom Gear, which takes a sensor size or a lens series and works exactly like a bundled one. And send it to us: Settings has a Request a camera or lens row that opens a mail with the app and database versions already filled in. Paste the manufacturer's specification page in it, because every entry ships with the source it came from.
The frame does not match what the real camera sees.
The frame is a simulation, computed from the sensor's active area and the marked focal length. Two things move it: phone camera modules vary between individual handsets, and a marked focal length is nominal rather than measured. Settings has a MEASURE offset for tuning it to your own handset. Check the recording mode first, though, because an open gate and a cropped mode on the same body frame very differently.
Where are my shots, and can I get them out?
On your device, and nowhere else. The gallery holds every frame and take with its setup; export a shot to the photo library or share it, and print a project as a PDF shot list. Nothing is uploaded to us. Deleting the app deletes what is still only in it, so export what you want to keep first.
Something looks broken.
Tell us what you expected and what happened, which iPhone or iPad, and a screenshot of the screen. The build number and the database version are under Settings, About. We reply within one business day and tell you what we found.
