Place stand-in figures for blocking and scale

The figures tool puts flat stand-in people on the picture, sized from how far away they stand and how tall they are. There are six poses: adult front, adult profile, adult walking, adult seated, a child and over the shoulder.

A figure is a 2D silhouette drawn at the size a person of that height would be, at that distance, through the lens you have on. Change the lens and the figure grows or shrinks with the frame.

  1. Tap Figures among the tools at the top of the viewfinder. A bar opens with the six poses.
  2. Tap a pose. A figure appears in the middle of the frame.
  3. Drag it into place.
  4. Tap a figure to select it. Set its Distance on the slider and its Height with the stepper (an adult starts at 1.75 m). Flip it to face the other way, or delete it.
  5. Tap Done. The figures stay on the picture.

Under a selected figure, Sharp or Soft says whether that distance falls inside the depth of field.

While the figure bar is open, taps and drags move figures; the picture's own gestures wait until you tap Done. Clear All removes every figure, with Undo straight after.

Color, opacity and captures

In Overlays, under Figures, set the figure color and opacity, and see every placed figure with its distance and height. Figures go into stills and takes along with the guides when Burn guides into captures is on.

If that didn't work

A figure stands between 0.5 and 50 meters away and between 0.5 and 2.3 meters tall. If one will not go closer or grow taller, it has reached those limits.
