Save shots to Photos, or share them
Select shots in Shots and tap Photos to save them, or open one shot and use its share button. Viewfinder asks only to add to your photo library; it never reads it.
Save to Photos
- In Shots, tap Select, choose the stills and takes, and tap Photos.
- The first time, iOS asks to let Viewfinder add to your photo library. Allow it.
- A banner says how many were saved.
A whole project or scene can be saved from its menu with Save Shots to Photos. One shot can be saved from its share menu, with Save Photo to Photos or Save Video to Photos.
Stills go to Photos with their frame lines and EXIF. A take saved to Photos gets its date and place on the Photos item, since the movie file carries only its date.
Share
Open a shot and tap the share button, or export a project as a PDF shot list. The share sheet sends the file with AirDrop, Mail, Files, Dropbox or any other app on the device. A PDF is written under its own name first, so it arrives with that name.
If that didn't work
- Does not have permission to add to your photo library: tap Open Settings, then Photos, and choose Add Photos Only.
- This device does not allow adding to the photo library: a profile or Screen Time sets that restriction. Ask whoever manages the device.
- Some shots saved, some could not be: the banner says how many. A shot whose file is no longer on the device cannot be saved.
- Nothing could be saved to Photos: check the device has free space, then try again.
