Move Viewfinder to a new iPhone or iPad

Save or share your shots first, because the shot library is kept out of device backups and does not come across. On the new device, a purchase comes back with Restore Purchase, and a Cutvey membership signs in again.

  1. On the old device, open Shots. Save the stills and takes you want to Photos, or share them, and export the PDF shot lists you need.
  2. If you use a Cutvey membership, open Settings, Access and tap Sign out of Cutvey on this device, so the old device stops holding a place.
  3. Set up the new device and install Viewfinder from the App Store.
  4. Agree on the first screen.
  5. Bought it? Tap Restore Purchase, signed in to the same Apple Account. Using a membership? Tap Sign in with Cutvey and enter your email and code.

Why the shots do not come across

Viewfinder keeps its shot library out of iCloud and computer backups, so a phone set up from a backup starts with an empty library. What leaves the app leaves through Save to Photos, sharing or a PDF.

The membership's sign-in is kept on each device only, so it never moves with a backup either. That is why a new device signs in again.

If that didn't work

If the new device uses a different Apple Account, the sign-in sheet asks Move this seat here? Tap Move, and the devices on the old Apple Account are signed out. If Restore Purchase finds nothing, check that the new device is signed in to the Apple Account that bought the app.
