Use Viewfinder offline, and the seven days

Framing, the gear list, the sun, depth of field and every capture work with no signal. A purchase has no offline window. A Cutvey membership keeps working for up to seven days after the app last heard from Cutvey.

The camera and lens list ships inside the app, the sun is worked out on the device, and stills, takes and PDF shot lists are made on the device too. A scout with no coverage is an ordinary day for Viewfinder. New cameras and lenses arrive with app updates.

A membership and the seven days

A device signed in with Cutvey checks in by itself when it opens, and about once a day while it has a connection. Each answer from Cutvey starts the window again, for at most seven days. It can be shorter, for example when a workspace's trial ends sooner.

  1. In the day before you go off the grid, open Viewfinder on a connection.
  2. Shoot as usual while you are out.
  3. If the window runs out, the locked screen says so. Connect to a network and tap Sign in with Cutvey.

A purchase does not depend on a Cutvey membership and has no seven-day window.

What needs a connection

  • Signing in with Cutvey, and a membership's check-ins.
  • Buying, and Restore Purchase, which talk to the App Store.
  • Request a camera or lens, which opens an email.
  • Reading the legal documents at cutvey.com.

If that didn't work

If the sun overlay has no position, location needs a first fix. Wait in the open for Waiting for a location fix to clear, or type a latitude and longitude into the sun panel to plan the day.
