Change lenses, turn a zoom and fine-zoom with a pinch
Use the arrows on the lens rail, or swipe across the picture, to step through the kit. On a zoom the arrows turn the barrel, and holding one zooms continuously. On a prime, a pinch adds a fine zoom, and the shot records it.
On a prime kit
- The upper arrow goes to the previous, wider lens and the lower arrow to the next, tighter one.
- A swipe across the picture does the same.
- On an iPad keyboard, the up and down arrow keys do it too (left and right in Vertical).
On a zoom
- The arrows turn the barrel a step at a time. Press and hold one to zoom continuously.
- A pinch on the picture turns the barrel smoothly, between the zoom's two ends.
Fine zoom on a prime
A pinch on a prime adds a fine zoom on top of the lens, from 0.5× to 4×, for a frame between two of your primes. The info strip shows it as FINE with the factor. A shot taken with a fine zoom records it next to the lens, for example ×2.00 before the resulting focal length, so nobody mistakes it for the lens alone.
Changing lenses clears the fine zoom.
If that didn't work
If the arrows do nothing, the kit may hold a single prime: add lenses in Setup. If the picture looks soft after a long zoom, the capsule under the top strip will say "Digital zoom: reduced resolution": the phone is scaling the picture up. A longer phone camera, picked on AUTO, avoids that where the phone has one.
